Rhys West is the Chief Executive of Fair Way, New Zealand’s largest specialist conflict management and dispute resolution organisation.

With experience in Business Development, Operational Management and Sales Leadership, Rhys is passionate about delivering a great customer experience and he challenges his team to find new and interesting ways to add more value. 

Rhys has a strong commercial and business background developed across a range of sectors including building and construction, property, energy and professional services. He was in operational management roles for Sebel Furniture and Wilson Parking, and later, in various commercial sales leadership roles for Shell New Zealand and Z Energy. He held general management roles with Western Mailing and Business Central.

In November 2015, Rhys joined Fair Way as the General Manager: Business Development to deliver a strategic approach to business development and client relationship management, to manage all major bids for new business and all marketing activity, and to lead government relations and advocacy work.

In October 2016, Rhys was appointed as the Acting Chief Executive and lead the business through a transition phase, including a change in ownership from the Crown. Upon the completion of this transaction in July 2017, the Board appointed Rhys to the role of Chief Executive.

As Chief Executive, Rhys is committed to Fair Way’s core purpose and strategy of leading the prevention and resolution of disputes. Together with Fair Way’s Board and Senior Management Team, Rhys guides the organisation to deliver on those strategic priorities.

With a team of over 200 employees and contractors across New Zealand, Fair Way handles over 16,000 disputes, reviews and enquiries each year. Rhys is passionate about making sure our people and customers remain at the centre of our thinking as we operate and grow within both traditional and emerging market segments.
