Myles’s work history involved lengthy periods as a probation officer and then manager in the Probation Service before becoming a lecturer in the Dispute Resolution Programme at Massey University. He remains a mediator at Massey. He has worked in dispute resolution for many years in the education and workplace fields, and in recent years has moved into Family Dispute Resolution with Fair Way as his main area of practice.
Myles enjoys working with parties to reach agreements that suit their circumstances. He looks to provide a safe and informal environment for them to positively engage with the other side. The object is for the parties themselves to achieve a timely, lasting, and cost effective resolution that works for them.
Myles has been fortunate to enjoy challenging roles that have seen him working with a very wide range of persons dealing with difficult issues in their work and personal lives. The Massey role was particularly personally rewarding, working with great colleagues and students. He finds the challenges of dispute resolution work stimulating, and seeks balance himself on his motorcycle and bicycles, while dreaming of brewing the Great New Zealand Pale Ale.
