Fair Way welcomes Stephen Hooper

Fair Way is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Hooper as Senior Resolution Practitioner.

Stephen has a wealth of experience in dispute resolution, having worked as a lawyer and mediator for nearly 30 years. His career has spanned the public and private sector both locally and overseas.

Most recently, Stephen was a mediator in the Wellington office of Employment Mediation Services, in the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). He previously worked with World Vision International as an international peace-building specialist in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

“We’re so excited to welcome Stephen within the Fair Way whānau. He has had an incredible career in mediation, hands on working with communities in conflict zones as well as here in Aotearoa within the employment space. Stephen has a very calming nature and nothing fazes him. In fact, he loves a challenge and getting stuck into helping people work through their relationship and communication barriers. He’s a natural fit for our Commercial Services team, especially with the growing demand we’re seeing in the employment space,” says Jeanie Robinson, Operations Manager of Commercial Services.

Stephen says that he enjoys having the opportunity to use his skills and experience in preventative, educative and learning processes that enable parties to take a long-term view of their entire working and commercial relationships.

“I’m enjoying my time with the Fair Way team and the diversity of clients that we see. In the private dispute resolution space, there is a real opportunity to work alongside parties early in their conflict, where often there is most potential for positive change. My aim is to train, coach and support these parties to find a space where their relationships can flourish, and where communication, teamwork and trust building can be strengthened,” says Stephen.

Stephen’s areas of practice within Fair Way includes commercial and private disputes, in addition to workplace services.
