Melanie Baker

Melanie is lawyer and mediator. She has been practising law in Lower Hutt since 1988. She is an experienced lawyer for child and family lawyer.

Over the past few years Melanie has also completed extensive training in family dispute resolution in New Zealand and overseas, and is an accredited family specialist mediator.

Melanie believes her experience working with families, and in particular children, has made her very well equipped to assist people to resolve issues to do with the care of their children.

Melanie is a Board member of KidsCan Charitable Trust, a Director of Atiawa Toa FM Limited, and a former chairperson of Petone Central School Board of Trustees.

As a parent herself, she understands the challenges of modern parenting and is of the view is that people should be empowered to reach their own agreements regarding their children’s care.
