Nicola began working with families in 1986 as a hospital based social worker working with children’s physical, emotional and behavioural issues. She has held contracts providing Specialist Care of Children Reports to Family Court, chairing a Care and Protection Resource Panel, providing Applicant and Respondent partner violence programmes, and mediating family disputes. Her experience in FDR covers every aspect of family life; stepfamily integration, same-sex relationships, how separation affects children, adult grief and readjustment, addiction, care and protection, guardianship issues, grandparents and whanau caring for children, relocation, and childcare arrangements.
Nicola is the Inaugural Recipient of the Anne Edge Memorial Award for Excellence in Fellowship Mediation and was named by the National Business Review as being in the top 10 family mediators in New Zealand.
Alongside this work, Nicola teaches and coaches mediation skills across Aotearoa NZ and abroad.
